SKP with Successful League Comeback

07 Februar 2021

(PM EWHL) European Women’s Hockey League: after a long break of almost two month SKP Bratislava came back strong with two wins this weekend…

On Saturday they started with a 5-1 against the EVB Eagles South Tyrol, on Sunday they beat the Sabres Vienna 4-3 and so ended their opponent’s winning streak (8 consecutive wins). In this game the Slovaks were already leading 4-1 after 21 minutes, the Austrians scored two more goals but this was not enough to turn the game. SKP is now on second place, while the Sabres will have already on Tuesday the chance for a revenge when these teams will play each other again. On Wednesday Bratislava will play against Aisulu Almaty and after that the fight for the final 4 positions could be more clear. Right now KMH is already qualified, while SKP, Sabres, MAC and Aisulu fight for the other 3 spots. Salzburg, Katowice, Lakers and Bolzano will definitely not manage the play offs anymore this season, but they will have some important games for the final ranking in the next weeks.

By the way: after Katowice won the first duel against Salzburg on Saturday 7-4 (with 2 ENGs), Salzburg took the three points in second with a 3-2. And on Sunday the Eagles South Tyrol could keep the game vs. Aisulu open for a long time, but in the last 10 minutes the result became clear – 5-0 for Almaty.
