Katowice with Road Win in Bolzano

(PM EWHL) European Women’s Hockey League: Silesian Metropolis Katowice beat the Eagles South Tyrol after a tough game 2-1…

The Italians were leading 1-0 after first period, the guests came back with the 1-1 in second. In 50th minute a power play goal for Katowice decided this game. One of the matchwinners was goalie Agata Kosinska with 1 goal out of 41 shots against. So the Polish passed the KEHV Lakers and are now on 7th place. By the way: the latter played their home game against still unbeaten KMH Budapest and lost clearly 3-10.

In the third Saturday game the best two Austrian teams, Sabres Vienna and Eagles Salzburg, played against each other. After a starting period without goals Salzburg’s top scorer Annika Fazokas made the 1-0 for the guests after only 17 seconds in period 2. After that the Sabres put more and more pressure which resulted finally in the 1-1. In 45th minute a power play goal for the Sabres brought the first lead for the home team. And when the Eagles took their goalie for an additional skater an empty net goal one second before the end meant the final result – 3-1. After their sixth win in the last six games the team from Vienna is on third place now and they will face second ranked MAC Budapest in a direct duel on Sunday.
